Australian Immigration New Occupation List July, 2015

The Department of Industry advises the Minister for Immigration and the Border Protection in the Skilled Occupation List, 2015 – 2016. The occupation list identifies the occupation where some independent skilled migrants can assist in fulfilling the medium as well as long term needs of the Australian economy.

Independent migrants that have skill sets that are mentioned in the occupation list can assist in meeting all the skills that cannot be met by all the employers and state migration programs that are usually sponsored. Some efforts are mainly focused on training and employing the Australians.

Australian Immigration New Occupation List July, 2015 has been undertaken by a yearly consultation process and this gathers all the evidence and information that is submitted by industries, employees. For providing transparency, the Department also publishes some non-confidential information that is prepared with the advice to all the Ministers.

All the skilled migrants can apply for the ACT nomination if:
  • The status of their nominated occupation is shown as “open” on the Act Occupation List 
  • It meets all the requirements that are shown in the guidelines. 

The Australian Department evaluates the labour market, education and proper training, migration and some other demographic data along with some submissions by the stakeholders to develop advice for Immigration Minister and the Border Protection. This advice is provided to all the Ministers in mid March and this was implemented on 1st July.

The SOL is mainly applied for independent skilled migration. A separate list called the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List is applied to the Employer Nomination Scheme, Temporary Business Long Stay, Occupational Trainee Visa and the State Sponsored Migration.

Usually there is no involvement of the Department of Industry in the development of the CSOL. If the nominated occupation is listed as open in the ACT occupation list, the application is deemed to meet all the criteria. English language knowledge and pass mark with 7.5 in IELTS examination is essential.

The Department of Industry analyses all sorts of information from the stakeholders. They get all the details of the labour market, immigration data, education and training for identification of occupation that benefits most of independent skilled migration in both the medium as well as long term.

You can read the Skilled Nomination visa all the guidelines that are contained in the Act Occupation List. The Act, residents that work in a skilled occupation can become eligible for ACT nomination even if the occupation that is listed is shown as “closed” on the Act Occupation List.

A new resident may not find their eligibility for applying for the Federal Government Positions where citizenship or security clearance is required. They need to meet all the criteria that have been specified in the Department of Immigration and the Border Protection.

Australia Immigration New Occupation List July 2015 does not relate to any specific job and it does not guarantee job in any specific occupation. The success of an applicant depends mainly on the requirement of the employer, relevant skills and experience and the level of English knowledge.
